Szydłów Castle

Szydłów Castle

Details of attractions
The royal castle in Szydlowo, is located on the slope of a hill descending towards the valley of the Tzinec River. It is located within the fortifications of the former town. Since 1961 it has housed the Regional Museum in Szydłów. It had the character of an extensive royal residence, although it was used only temporarily. This is evidenced by the large courtyard and the royal palace in the southern part. The ruins of the royal palace from around 1400, as well as the so-called Treasury from the 15th and 16th centuries and the Baroque gate building with the remains of the walls separating the castle from the town, have been preserved to this day. From the west, the castle's courtyard is enclosed by perimeter walls, which are part of the city's fortifications.
