Zalipie - Painted Village

Zalipie - Painted Village

Details of attractions
The countryside is known for the custom of painting cottages. The custom of decorating the village huts with floral paintings dates back to the end of the 19th century, when the villagers began to decorate the interiors of their cottages with flowers made from tissue paper, cut-outs and straw spiders hanging from the ceiling and flowers painted on the walls. Paintings were also done on the outside walls of buildings, wells and fences. There are currently around twenty painted houses in Zalipie.
